These terms are the agreement between you and Hara Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (Company No. 201901010477 (1319805-K)), a company registered in Malaysia with its registered office at 18 Dutamas Raya, 51200 Kuala Lumpur ("we", "us"). By using Kalori you accept them.
1. What the app is
Kalori is a calorie and nutrition tracker for Malaysian and Southeast Asian food. You log meals by photo, barcode or search, and the app estimates their energy, macronutrients, sodium and sugar against a daily budget.
We licence it to you personally, for your own use. You may not resell it, rent it out, or take it apart to build a competing service.
2. Not medical advice
Kalori gives estimates, not medical or dietary advice. Portions measured from a photo, recipe estimates and database values can all be wrong, sometimes by a lot. The suggested budget is a general formula and does not know your health.
Do not use Kalori to diagnose, treat or manage a medical condition, including diabetes, kidney disease or an eating disorder. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, or have a health condition, talk to a doctor or dietitian before following a calorie budget. If using a calorie tracker makes you anxious about food, stop and speak to someone you trust or a health professional.
3. Who may use it
In Malaysia a person under 18 is a minor and cannot enter into this agreement. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read these terms and agree to them on your behalf, and is responsible for your use of the app.
4. Nutrition data
Kalori's numbers come from several sources: the Malaysian Food Composition Database (MyFCD, Institute for Medical Research), Singapore's Health Promotion Board food database, USDA FoodData Central (public domain), Open Food Facts (Open Database License), product labels, and Kalori's own recipe estimates. Each dish shows where its numbers came from. We check them with care, but we do not promise they are complete or accurate for the food in front of you.
5. Your data is yours
Everything you log stays on your iPhone, as the Privacy Policy explains. We claim no rights over it. Export it at any time from Settings → Export my meals.
6. Using the app properly
Do not:
- use the app, or the Open Food Facts search inside it, in a way that is unlawful or that overloads the service;
- attempt to copy the app's bundled food database for use outside the app.
7. Availability
Kalori works on your iPhone without an account. Online product search depends on Open Food Facts, and Ask Kalori depends on Apple Intelligence being available on your iPhone. We try to keep the app working, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of faults, and features may change.
8. Where you stand legally
The app is provided "as is" to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss caused by relying on a nutrition estimate. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose: use Export my meals.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
9. Ending the agreement
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end this agreement if you break these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the app, are governed by the laws of Malaysia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kuala Lumpur, so that neither of us is prevented from bringing a claim somewhere the law requires it to be brought.
If you live outside Malaysia, this does not take away the protection of the consumer laws of your own country where those laws cannot be contracted out of. Your download of the app is made through Apple, and what passes between you and Apple is governed by Apple's own terms.
