These terms are the agreement between you and Hara Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (Company No. 201901010477 (1319805-K)), a company registered in Malaysia with its registered office at 18 Dutamas Raya, 51200 Kuala Lumpur ("we", "us"). By using Audition Buddy you accept them.
1. What the app is
Audition Buddy is a self-tape studio and scene partner. You upload a script, the app reads the other characters' lines aloud while you perform, and it records the result on your phone.
We licence it to you personally, for your own auditions and rehearsals. You may not resell it, rent it out, or take it apart to build a competing service.
2. Who may use it
There is no minimum age for using Audition Buddy, and the app is not directed at children — but two things follow from the law rather than from us.
Under 18. In Malaysia a person under 18 is a minor and cannot enter into this agreement. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read these terms and agree to them on your behalf, and any subscription must be bought by them on their own Apple Account. They are responsible for what is done with the app.
Under 13. Please use Audition Buddy with a parent or guardian present. It records video and audio and sends dialogue to a speech service, and that is a thing a grown-up should be part of.
3. Your material is yours
Scripts you upload and takes you record remain yours. We claim no rights over them, and — with the single exception described in the Privacy Policy, where the reader's lines are sent away to be turned into speech — they never leave your phone.
You are responsible for what you put into the app. By uploading a script you confirm you are allowed to use it this way. Casting material is frequently confidential; if you are under an NDA or embargo that would be broken by sending the other characters' dialogue to a third party, do not use Buddy's voice on that script. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is sent.
4. Subscription
Audition Buddy Pro is an auto-renewing monthly subscription.
- Length of term: one month.
- Price: shown on the subscription screen in the app, in your local currency, before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Renewal: your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the period.
- Managing and cancelling: go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. You can cancel at any time, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms. We cannot issue them.
Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
5. Buddy's voice, and fair use
Buddy's voice is synthesised. Rendering speech costs us money, so there are limits on how much any one account may render in a day and in a month, and a ceiling across all accounts. The app tells you when you reach one. These limits exist to keep the feature available to everybody and may be adjusted.
You must not use the voice to imitate a real, identifiable person, to make anybody appear to say something they did not, or for anything unlawful, harassing or deceptive.
6. Using the app properly
Do not:
- upload material you have no right to use;
- attempt to reach our servers other than through the app, or to work around the usage limits;
- use the app to produce material that is unlawful, or that infringes somebody else's rights.
We may suspend an account that does these things.
7. Availability
We try to keep the app and its voice service working, but we do not promise they will always be available or free of faults. Features may change. If we withdraw a paid feature during a period you have paid for, contact us.
8. Where you stand legally
The app is provided "as is" to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including a missed audition, a lost role, or a recording that failed to save. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose: tap Download to save a take to your Photos library.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
9. Ending the agreement
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it — see section 4 for cancelling a subscription separately. We may end this agreement if you break these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the app, are governed by the laws of Malaysia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kuala Lumpur — non-exclusive, so that neither of us is prevented from bringing a claim somewhere the law requires it to be brought.
If you live outside Malaysia, this does not take away the protection of the consumer laws of your own country where those laws cannot be contracted out of. And your purchase itself is made through Apple: what passes between you and Apple is governed by Apple's own terms.
